(Self) Short Biography – Translated from the artist’s original text
I live in Rome, where I was born. My father Alberto (1925-2005) was a figurative painter from the 1960s to the 1990s, active in Rome and Sardinia, with a fair amount of public success, but not enough to become remotely well-known. I grew up in this artistic climate, spending much of my time in my father’s studio (a large room in our house), surrounded by paintings, oil paints, and art books, following him to his solo exhibitions, and conversing daily about art. I myself, from childhood, devoted myself to drawing, but especially to the use of my beloved colors. After high school, I began studying psychology, interrupting it after two years due to serious health problems, which have always plagued me. I dedicated myself to other pursuits for many years, and for a time I even sought poetry as a form of expression. When I resumed painting after my father’s death, my poetics turned to purely existential themes, such as the sense of time, emotional dynamics, dreams, and the unconscious. I have occasionally touched on social issues as well. Sometimes in my paintings, the abstract setting is accompanied by a conceptual message; but always indirectly, through a dreamlike, unconscious world charged with a more or less explicit symbolic value. Other times, especially recently, pure abstraction prevails, and the meaning of the painting, perhaps hinted at in the title, is embodied in the pure aesthetic emotion it evokes. The interpretation of the painting is up to the viewer, educated or not. They must simply learn to listen within themselves to the emotions aroused in their soul by that mysterious balance of forms and colors they perceive in the painting.
